The latest and most exciting addition to Camp High ropes
This is Nessie, originally called the Rainbow Surpent.
Nessie is about 30ft. Long and you dive in head first :)
See Videos below

Nessie

Ness Lake Bible Camp - NLBC, near our city of Prince George, 25 minute drive.
About 4 years ago NLBC had one of the first High Ropes Courses, included what was called
The Rainbow Serpent - eventually called NESSIE at camp.
As you can see the idea is to go head first, arms alongside you down this 30 feet of Nessie.
The way to get down is to wiggle like a fish.
I go to camp as a Grandpa to help look after homesick kids and to just have a blast with them. The first year we had the High Ropes, the kids would continue to tease me and say NOPE, Grandpa would never do this, and I said NO NO, NEVER NEVER. Until that one day I thought what if, I'd be the first Grandparent to ever do this.
No I didn't like the High Ropes in itself and avoided them. Then THAT ONE DAY - OK I decided to climb up the tree. Hey what could go wrong, I am all harnessed in and those GREAT LEADERS would take care of me.

So, here I go, kinda hard work for a bigger person and I got a bit tired and stopped wiggling. But YEAH I did it and MADE IT DOWN. Sorry the camera ran out of battery power as I hit the bottom.
See below of a young person doing a much better job then I.
Now the sad side of NESSIE :( As kids would go down head first many ended up with netting burns on their noses. The Leaders thought they had it solved by putting tape on their noses, but both the nose and other burns continued. So sad for now NESSIE is no longer at camp and one day we hope to have it come back from the manufacturer.
Then a little over a year ago, a very large tree which was part of the High Ropes came crashing down during a storm. So sad to say we have had no High Ropes for two summer camps at this point. One day when the money can be raised we hope to have the High Ropes back as many kids loved it. Nessie, I am not sure about, but Hey I did it!
